Speakers:
Melanie Walkty, M.Ed.听
I have a Masters in Second Language Education from 海角社区 and a BA in French & English Literature from Saint-Boniface University. I have over 10 years of experience teaching English as a second language to adults in post-secondary institutions and have been working at CaPS/Faculty of Education since 2016 (maternity leave replacement). In addition to my career as a teacher, I am a self-declared life-long learner! In 2014, I decided to embrace a new challenge by starting a small business on a part-time basis. I am the co-owner of Lemo Lemonade, a small batch, artisanal lemonade syrup sold to restaurants, bars and cafes in Quebec. Managing Lemo has given me a greater business sense and has demanded resourcefulness in fulfilling the many functions required to grow a business, such as developing a business plan, supervising production, marketing, finances and maintaining good client relations. I really enjoys wearing multiple hats and feel gratified by the personal and professional growth I have experienced since starting the business.
