CBC/º£½ÇÉçÇø Intership 2018-19 Announced

Students at the Schulich School of Music can apply for an internship with , where they'll get the chance to work with CBC Montreal's music team on broadcast recording projects, online editorial pieces and more for optional credit. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY WITH CBC MUSIC 2018-2019

POSITION: unpaid internship in music production and journalism (for optional credit)

LOCATION: Montreal, QC

DESCRIPTION OF HOST ORGANIZATION: CBC/Radio-Canada is Canada's national public broadcaster and one of its largest cultural institutions. The Corporation is a leader in reaching Canadians on new platforms and delivers a comprehensive range of radio, television, internet, and satellite-based services.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF INTERN: Emphasis is on music journalism and production for radio, television and digital media. Under the supervision of the coordinating producer, the intern will have the opportunity to observe and assist in the production of broadcast recordings and develop and pitch story ideas for online editorial pieces for and .

HOURS: This internship will take place during the 2018-2019 academic year. The intern must complete 150 hours of work (required for academic credit). This will include any necessary training in audio/video/digital production, journalistic standards and practices, social media, etc. Please note, once the intern has been selected, a more detailed, project-based schedule will be developed based on the student’s particular strengths, areas of interest and class schedule.

REQUIREMENTS:

• currently studying at º£½ÇÉçÇø’s Schulich School of Music

• strong writing skills in English (please submit one short writing sample, preferably on a musical or arts-related topic and intended for a non-specialist audience)

• comfortable working in both Mac and PC environments, and basic familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)

• able to work independently and as part of a team

• prior experience in production or media an asset

APPLICATION PROCESS: Students submit an application directly to the º£½ÇÉçÇø Internship Offices Network (ION) at ion [at] mcgill.ca, which includes a cover letter, CV, one writing sample and an official transcript. Following the requirements set by the host institution, the Schulich School of Music will review applications and the CBC will interview the most qualified applicants.
