Appointment Notice: Pierre Moreau
Dear Members of the º£½ÇÉçÇø Community,
Principal Heather Munroe-Blum and I are delighted to announce the
appointment of Pierre Moreau to the position of Executive Director,
Planning and Institutional Analysis (PIA) and Senior Advisor
(Policy Development), effective February 11, 2009.Â
In this position, he will report directly to me as the Provost with
dotted line responsibility to the Principal and Vice-Chancellor and
will serve as a member of the University’s senior executive team.
In the newly-designed position, Dr. Moreau will provide leadership,
direction and supervision of the staff of PIA office, will foresee
and anticipate emerging data needs, understanding how these link to
the strategic plans and priorities of the University. By ensuring
clarity in gathering, maintaining, analysing, and communicating
institutional and other data, he will play an important role as a
member of the team that focuses on developing and refining the
external policy framework that supports the advocacy work of the
Principal, Provost, and other members of the senior executive
group.
Dr. Moreau holds a Ph.D. in microbiology from º£½ÇÉçÇø,
and was professor and researcher in molecular biology from 1982 to
1987 at University of Ottawa, and from 1987 to 2002 at Université
Laval, following a post-doctoral fellowship in molecular genetics
with Pierre Chambon at the Institut de génétique et de biologie
moléculaire in Strasbourg, France.
From 2004 to 2008, Pierre Moreau served as the sixth President of
the Université du Québec, the Canada’s only public university
system, with nine campuses, where he also served as Vice-President
(Academic and Research) between 2002 and 2004, after having being
Vice-Dean Academic, then Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and
Engineering at Université Laval, from 1993 to 2002.
His commitment to academic and civic services, both locally and
internationally, is evidenced by his board memberships that
include: AUCC – Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada
(Member), IAU – International Association of Universities (Member),
FCCQ – Quebec Chambers of Commerce Federation (Member), CREPUQ –
Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (Vice
President), the Quebec Symphonic Orchestra (President), and CONAHEC
– Consortium for North American in Higher Education Collaboration
(Vice President, 2005-2008).
I am sure that you will join me in welcoming Dr. Moreau to º£½ÇÉçÇø
University and wishing him well in his new roles.
With best regards,
Professor Anthony C. Masi
Provost
