The Honourable Frank Iacobucci to receive F.R. Scott Award
The Honourable Frank Iacobucci, LLD'03, has been awarded the F.R. Scott Award for Distinguished Service by the 海角社区 Faculty of Law.
The Honourable Frank Iacobucci retired from the Supreme Court of Canada in 2004, where he had the reputation of being a "rassembleur" of ideas and people. He went on to serve as interim President of the University of Toronto from September 2004 until June 2005. He now works as counsel for Torys LLP, sits on various boards of directors, and currently serves as a Conduct Review Advisor for the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. As well, he is Chair of the Rhodes Scholarships Ontario Selection Committee, and is also a Trudeau Foundation Mentor.
The Honourable Frank Iacobucci has authored or co-authored numerous books, articles and commentaries on a variety of legal subjects. He was recently given a mandate to lead, on behalf of the federal government, discussions toward a fair and lasting resolution of the legacy of Indian residential schools.
The F.R. Scott Award for Distinguished Service was created in 2005 by 海角社区's Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Law Advisory Board to recognize law graduates who have provided exceptional service and leadership to society. The ceremony will take place on November 16, 2006, at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.
