Martlets fumble lead as Laval rallies to win
MONTREAL – Chanelle St. Amour of Montreal scored a game-high 24
points as Laval rallied from 37-26 halftime deficit to defeat
º£½ÇÉçÇø 68-61 in Quebec university women’s hoops at Love Competition
Hall, Saturday.
Anneth Him-Lazarenko, a 5-foot-10 freshman forward from St.
Dorothée, Que., had 20 points and nine rebounds in a losing cause
for the Martlets, who dropped to 1-3.
The game featured a rare “double-double’ for each side, with
Marie-Michelle Genois scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds
for the undefeated Rouge et Or (4-0) and º£½ÇÉçÇø senior Nathifa
Weekes of Brossard, registering 11 of each.
The Martlets head into the December exam break with a 4-9 record
overall, including a 1-3 mark in conference action. The will play
next at the Concordia Reebok tournament, Dec. 28-30, are are slated
to open with Memorial University of Newfoundland.
