McIntyre renovation update - July 2011
Laboratories and offices on the 8th听and 9th floors,听as well as part of the 10th听floor, have been completely renovated and people have started to move back in. New lab benches and exhaust hoods upgrade the facilities for leading-edge research and teaching. Plumbing, electrical and ventilation systems have been completely renewed and configured. New exhaust hoods and 100% fresh air intake improve air quality as well as energy efficiency in these newly renovated areas.
New freezer farms have been finished and are in use.
Washrooms on floors 8, 9, 11 and 12 are now open.听Washrooms on floors 4 and 6 are being completely renovated and will be ready by the end of July.
Balancing of the new HVAC systems has started and may cause some ventilation noise.
As renovations near completion, finishing details remain to be done in certain areas. Other spaces are still being renovated on the 13th floor so some noise听can be expected until September, when the work will be finished.听听Finishing details remain to be done in certain areas.We apologize for any disruption.
