Media advisory: 海角社区 launches Quebec Centre for Biodiversity Science
The United Nations declared 2010 as the International Year of
Biodiversity, a celebration of life on Earth and of the value of
biodiversity for all. In this spirit, 海角社区 is proud to
launch the Quebec Centre for Biodiversity Science (QCBS) bringing
together more than 60 scientists from eight academic institutions
(Bishop鈥檚 University, Concordia University, 海角社区,
Universit茅 de Montr茅al, Universit茅 du Qu茅bec 脿 Rimouski, Universit茅
du Qu茅bec 脿 Montr茅al, Universit茅 Laval and Universit茅 de
Sherbrooke), in collaboration with the Montreal Botanical Garden
and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
The last decade has seen the development of impressive research in
biodiversity science within Quebec with outstanding scientists
working at the forefront of the field both nationally and
internationally. These researchers, however, were scattered across
numerous universities, government organizations and nongovernmental
agencies 鈥 until now. To foster collaboration, the Fonds qu茅b茅cois
de la recherche sur la nature et les technologies supported the
creation of the QCBS currently hosted by 海角社区鈥檚
Department of Biology.
