Nominations for the Award for Distinguished Teaching

The purpose of this award is to honour excellence in teaching. Candidates for the award will be judged on their ability to motivate and stimulate students' interest in the subject matter, and to instill in the students a sense of accomplishment in advancing their own competencies. Nominees must show competence and diligence in carrying out their teaching duties. A candidate must receive two nominations to be considered and must have been teaching at the Centre for a minimum of three years. Some examples of qualities or behaviours associated with excellence in teaching are:

  • Clarity of presentation of lecture material;
  • Expert knowledge of subject matter;
  • Competence and diligence in preparation of teaching activities;
  • Development and use of new methodology and the most up-to-date materials;
  • Appropriate use of technological tools;
  • Capacity to motivate students.
