Update on negotiations with AMURE (research associates and research assistants)

Published: 22 September 2016

The first two negotiation meetings regarding the renewal of the collective agreements of research associates and research assistants – now part of the same accreditation unit – were held on Sept. 15 and 16. The parties agreed to issue joint statements on the progress of the negotiations throughout the process.

The parties first agreed on the order in which the various topics would be discussed and started discussing a first set of topics. Parties discussed and agreed on the articles relating to the purpose of the collective agreement, recognition of the union, management rights, relationships between the parties and the employee’s personnel file. The English version of these articles was ratified by the parties.

Discussions were held on the article relating to harassment and discrimination; parties did not reach an agreement on this element. The union upheld its demands and the topic will be addressed again at a later meeting.

The next meetings are set for Sept. 22 and 23.

This update is meant to inform the community about ongoing negotiations and has been validated by the union.
