The Office of Indigenous Initiatives is pleased to share its annual review of Indigenous successes and accomplishments across 海角社区 in 2022. The Faculty of Education's Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) is prominently featured among these successes:

Congratulations to Chrissy Colizza, 2^nd year MA candidate (Supervisor: Dr. Gordon Bloom) for winning the Jean Beliveau Award, the Qu茅bec Foundation for Athlete Excellence Leadership Award, and the Dorothy Nichol Scholarship.

Research shows that early childhood gambling experiences, including those with lottery products, can be a risk factor for gambling problems later in life.

This research prompted the International Centre for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviors at 海角社区 and the U.S. National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) to join forces in developing the Gift Responsibly Campaign. Since 2001, the simple goal of the Campaign is to raise awareness about the risks of underage lottery play.

2022 Vanier Scholar, Kelsey Huson, from the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, was the recipient of Canada鈥檚 most prestigious graduate awards, for traditional healing and culture-related substance use disorder treatment transformations due to the COVID-19 pandemic: Impact on Indigenous patients and communities.

This is an invitation to participate in Asra Milani鈥檚 doctoral research exploring the experiences of survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) also known as domestic violence about accessing and using psychological and social support services for IPV.

This study is supervised by Dr. Ada Sinacore and explores both survivors and service providers鈥� views.
