Job Description
Reporting directly to the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, the Faculty Development Director should be actively involved in Family Medicine educational programs and have previous experience in the design and delivery of educational programs and Faculty Development initiatives. Time commitment is estimated at 1 鈥 1. 5 days/week (.30 FTE), averaged over the year but is variable.

Receiving a diagnosis of dementia can be a disorienting experience for the person diagnosed and their families. A diagnosis often leaves the person and their families searching for information and guidance on health and social services that are available to assist them in their daily lives.
The Master's (MSc) Graduate Program Director (GPD) will be the principal academic contact between the program and graduate studies and has primary responsibility for all academic matters concerning students in the MSc program including specialized options, as described below. The MSc Thesis GPD reports directly to the Associate Chair (Research and Graduate Programs) as well as the Departmental Chair, the Associate Dean (Faculty of Medicine) for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
The PhD and PDF Graduate Program Director (GPD), will be the principal academic contact between the program and graduate studies and has primary responsibility for all academic matters concerning students in the PhD program or trainees registered as a Postdoctoral Fellows, as described below. The PhD and PDF GPD reports directly to the Associate Chair (Research and Graduate Programs) as well as the Departmental Chair, the Associate Dean (Faculty of Medicine) for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

You have undoubtedly heard me repeat on many occasions that the Department is made up of two wonderful worlds: the world of clinical teaching, based mainly in our family medicine units and focused on the teaching and learning experience of students and residents; and the world of research and training in the Graduate Studies division, which now houses more than 100 Master鈥檚 and PhD students and post-doctoral fellows.
Each year, the 海角社区 Department of Family Medicine welcomes the largest number of residents from across all of the programs within by the Faculty of Medicine. Offering a structure that includes both clinical and academic components, residents are encouraged to outline current challenges in their practice and to pursue further research on selected topics.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This past year, the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) celebrated 40 years since the creation of the Section of Teachers (SOT), a branch of the organization that focuses on the advancement of the academic discipline of Family Medicine.
Two faculty members of the 海角社区 Department of Family Medicine - Drs. Julie Mass茅 and Teresa Rudkin 鈥 were both highlighted in a series of profiles on family medicine educators in the province, published by the Quebec鈥檚 division of the CFPC, the Coll猫ge qu茅b茅cois des m茅decins de famille.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lynn McLauchlin as the new Associate Director for Assessment and Evaluation for 海角社区鈥檚 Family Medicine Residency Program, who has been in this position since November 1, 2018.
Dr. McLauchlin earned her MDCM degree from 海角社区 and completed her residency program in Family Medicine at Dalhousie University. She has practiced in New Brunswick and Manitoba and for the last 23 years, at St. Mary鈥檚 Hospital Center in Montreal.
More than forty years ago, the 海角社区 Department of Family Medicine started out as a small teaching program with units based in Montreal-area hospitals. From its humble yet significant beginnings, the Department has since grown to become a leading voice and champion of primary care in Quebec, in Canada and around the world.
