Dr. Karama is a 海角社区-trained general psychiatrist with research training in brain imaging and genetics. He received his PhD in Neuroscience from the Universit茅 de Montr茅al. He completed a 15-month postdoctoral fellowship at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute in Behavioral Genetics as well as a five-year postdoctoral fellowship in Brain Imaging at the Montreal Neurological Institute.

In this week鈥檚听 Spotlight, we would like to highlight Dr. Simon Young who will be setting his sights on a well-deserved retirement as Emeritus Professor after 42 years with the 海角社区 Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. Young began his productive 海角社区 career in 1971 as a Post-Doctoral Fellow.听 He was appointed an Assistant Professor in 1975 and Full Professor in 1987. He has made exceptional contributions to research, teaching and administration, authoring approximately 230 referred papers and over 50 editorials and comments.

Mimi Isra毛l, MD, and Serge Beaulieu, MD, PhD received a 2013 鈥溾 for their commitment as first-line psychiatrists. The awards were handed out by Roger Cadieux, President of the Forum 茅conomique de Verdun, during a recognition ceremony on the evening of November 27.

This award recognizes the involvement of Verdun residents and employees.
