Neural 鈥渟ignature鈥 may reflect how we respond to feelings of social isolation
This holiday season will be a lonely one for many people as social distancing due to COVID-19 continues, and it is important to understand how isolation affects our health. A new study shows a sort of signature in the brains of lonely people that make them distinct in fundamental ways, based on variations in the volume of different brain regions as well as based on how those regions communicate with one another across brain networks.

Through its Health and Social Services Community Leadership Bursary Program, Dialogue 海角社区 awarded a total of $325,000 to 51 health and social services students from 14 Quebec regions in the 2020-2021 academic year. Depending on the bursary category and level of study, recipients will receive anywhere from $2,500 to $10,000. August 17, 2020 | Since the start of this year, there have been increasing calls for the Canadian government听to impose a national moratorium on facial recognition technology. This demand arises from the possibility that law enforcement will use facial recognition听to discriminate against certain demographics and worsen discrimination in the justice system. A moratorium would provide legislators time to develop a comprehensive and effective policy regulating听 FR technology and the data it collects, uses, and shares.
