As we get ready to celebrate the end of the calendar year and the end of term, I would like to reflect for a moment on our strategic planning efforts that are re-launching this Fall. All of the SCS community will have a chance to weigh in on the formulation of a new strategic plan for the School that we hope to have ready for implementation by summer 2024.

Five plus years ago I arrived at º£½ÇÉçÇø just as the School of Continuing Studies’ strategic plan for 2017-2019 was coming to an end. At the time the School community embarked together on a new visioning journey that produced an updated mission, vision, and values statement for SCS. We collectively had also identified some high-level strategic objectives that were to lead into a more extensive strategic plan. Then we were hit with the COVID-19 pandemic which forced us to shift our attention to other matters for a while. Despite this interruption, we have been making steady progress in realizing many of these goals. And so here we are, ready to pull together the different strands of analyses, our mission, and vision to develop a new strategic plan for the next three (3) years, 2024-2027.

As a member of a key stakeholder group for the School, your input is important to us. You will soon receive a survey to fill out. And please do not hesitate to send any questions or comments to the strategic planning committee email: scs-stratplan.conted [at] mcgill.ca.

º£½ÇÉçÇø’s School of Continuing Studies is a complex and multidimensional organization that thrives thanks to the commitment, dedication, and hard work of each of you. The strategic plan will allow us to clearly identify our shared purpose and articulate a common direction for our community. I thank you for your active participation in this process. Onward and upward!

Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful holiday season and end of term.
