Luda Diatchenko named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada

Professor Luda Diatchenko has been named a (RSC) for 2023. Fellows are distinguished individuals from all branches of learning who have made remarkable contributions in the arts, the humanities and the sciences, as well as in Canadian public life, who are elected by their peers for their outstanding scholarly, scientific and artistic achievements.

Diatchenko is the Pfizer Canada Professor in Pain Research and the recent Canada Excellence Research Chair in Human Pain Genetics and holds a cross appointment in the Department of Anesthesia. Her research is focused on determining the cellular and molecular biological mechanisms by which functional genetic variations impact human pain perception and risk of development of chronic pain conditions, enabling new approaches to identify new drug targets, treatment responses to analgesics, and diagnostics. She has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed research papers and 10 book chapters and is a frequent speaker at national and international pain research conferences. In 2022 Luda Diatchenko was elected into the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.

She is among as part of the class of 2023. The 2023 Fellows and Members will be welcomed into the RSC on November 17 at the RSC Celebration of Excellence and Engagement.
