MDGSS Call for Nominations - Executive Committee 2017-2018

This is a call for nominations for the election of this year's º£½ÇÉçÇø Dentistry Graduate Students’ Society (MDGSS) executive committee and the Post-Graduate Student Society (PGSS) representatives. The elections are to be held on Friday, 15th of September at 12 pm on the 5th floor of 2001 º£½ÇÉçÇø College Ave, Room 547. If you are interested in running for any positions (see below), kindly send in your nomination by no later than Wednesday 13th of September, 11:59 pm to nioushah.noushi [at] mail.mcgill.ca. Please note that all nominees will be required to present a one (1) minute speech at the elections meeting on the 15th of September. The º£½ÇÉçÇø Dentistry Graduate Students’ Society (MDGSS) is a student-run society that serves various purposes including the representation of Dentistry graduate students, organizing social and academic events, as well as fostering a sense of community throughout the faculty and º£½ÇÉçÇø. The MDGSS is managed by members of the executive committee who are elected by fellow graduate students to represent them as appropriate. No prior experience is needed to run for these positions and new students are welcome to apply. Please note that every role is vital to the functioning of the MDGSS and must be taken seriously. Please see below for a short summary of the responsibilities of each executive’s position: 1. President The president is responsible for chairing the MDGSS meetings, as well as representing the MDGSS at all meetings within the Faculty of Dentistry, the º£½ÇÉçÇø community, and any relevant external entities. 2. VP Academics The VP Academics is responsible for conducting and/or facilitating academic events (e.g. research seminars) for Dentistry graduate students. 3. VP Communications The VP Communications is responsible for creating agendas and recording minutes of the MDGSS executive meetings, advertising MDGSS social and academic events, and communicating (via email or phone) on behalf of the MDGSS, whenever necessary. 4. VP Finance The VP Finance is responsible for managing the annual MDGSS budget, while keeping records of transactions and arranging for reimbursements. 5. VP Social The VP Social is responsible for organizing social events for the Dentistry graduate students to promote social interaction between graduate students, faculty and staff. PGSS: PGSS Councilor (2 positions) Duties include attending one 2-hour meeting once a month to discuss and vote on student affairs on behalf of all Dentistry graduate students. Dinner is provided at each meeting. A light snack will be provided.
