IMPM participant awarded North-South Prize
IMPM participant Dr Abbas Gullet, Vice President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and Secretary-General of Kenya Red Cross Society, is one of two laureates of the 2017 North-South Prize of the Council of Europe.
This award honors individuals who have dedicated their lives to promote humanitarian work and foster human solidarity.
Abbas graduated from Cycle 1 of the IMPM.

Christina Foerster (IMPM, Cycle 16) has been appointed as the new CEO of Brussels Airlines, becoming the first woman to head a Lufthansa Group airline.
To her new role, Foerster brings considerable experience in the aviation industry, having served the Lufthansa Group in various roles, including general manager product management intercontinental, vice president network and fleet development, and senior vice president network, group & alliance development.

Taking on a major drought with solar power
Farmers in the coastal Kenyan county of Kilifi are locked into a drought that has so far killed over 20,000 livestock. And now the Red Cross is coming to the rescue. A new, solar-powered water delivery system has been set up to tap the area鈥檚 major pipeline and deliver water to pumps in villages throughout the area. The system reduces delivery interruptions caused by power outages, as well as the long walks that residents had to take to access the old system鈥檚 collection points.
