Desautels BCom Students Take Two 1st Place Podiums at UPorto ICC 2013
A Desautels undergraduate student case team composed of Brooke Freeman, Shonezi Noor, Katan Patel and Jeremy Singer not only took 1st place in the preliminary case but also placed 1st overall in the main case at the UPorto ICC 2013 hosted by the University of Porto from October 21 to 25, 2013. This was the first international case competition held in Portugal. 聽聽

Canadian Business Students Visit St. Petersburg
Last weekend St. Petersburg hosted a group of 37 business students and alumni from 海角社区, Montreal, Canada, as part of the institution鈥檚 鈥淗ot Cities鈥 initiative.

KPMG Announces winners of the 2013 National Competition
海角社区 Desautels Faculty of Management students Jean Vianney Cordeiro, David Gao, Shirley Xu Wang and their team have won the 2013 National Ace the Case competition on March 2. Jean Vianney, David and Shirley鈥檚 team had earned the opportunity to represent Canada at the 2013 KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) in Madrid, Spain, coming up on April 2-5.

A 海角社区 Desautels case team made it to the finals at the Marshall International Case Competition (MICC) hosted by the University of Southern California (USC). This team of four BCom students, composed of Alexia Belisle, Frederick Dub茅 Fortier, Simon Hudson and Charlotte Lucas, placed top 6 out of 30 competing universities at this year鈥檚 competition which took聽place from聽February 12 to 17, 2013.

Desautels BCom Students Won KPMG鈥檚 Ace the Case Local Competition
BCom students Jean Vianney Cordeiro, David Gao and Shirley Xu Wang recently won the KPMG鈥檚 Ace the Case Local Competition. On March 2, Jean Vianney, David, Shirley Xu and their team will represent the KPMG Montreal office at the 2013 National Ace the Case competition, via video conference. The winners of the National Competition will go on to represent Canada at the International level in Madrid, Spain in April.

The Three Phases of Careers - Where Are You and Where Should You Be?
Careers are a lot longer than people think. Most of my undergrad and MBA students are in a great rush to get on with it. And they should but they need to take the long view. I recently interviewed OgilvyOne鈥檚 CEO Brian Fetherstonhaugh (BCom鈥79) who is one of the smartest people I know. Brian separates a career into three sections, allowing for some perspective and an eye on the future.
