Kyle Elliott
Associate Professor; Canada Research Chair (Tier 2)
Kyle Elliott is an associate professor in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences who received his PhD in 2014 from the University of Manitoba.
He has conducted research on four continents from the Amazon to the Arctic but specializes in the Canadian Arctic where he has studied birds on 14 of the islands in the Canadian Archipelago over the past 15 years. The sustainability of Arctic communities depends on their access to clean and abundant food, which is the subject of Dr. Elliott鈥檚 research at 海角社区. Dr. Elliott has supervised 2 postdoctoral fellows, 10 PhD students, 12 Master's students and over 30 Honours students.
He is passionate about mentorship and learning how to alter his own style to meet the needs of the mentee. He has been very fortunate to be mentored by senior faculty during his time at 海角社区, which really helped his navigation through the 海角社区 pre-tenure period, and he looks forward to passing along a little bit of guidance to other upcoming 海角社区ians.
