Shanice Yarde
Biography: 

Shanice Yarde is the Associate Director, Anti-Racism and Equity Education in the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic). She has worked at 海角社区 since 2016 with a focus on developing equity educational initiatives for employees and creating a more welcoming and inclusive institution for all. Shanice is the co-lead of the Black Employee Resource Group and one of the founders of Black History Month at 海角社区 which has been celebrated institutionally since 2017.

Outside of 海角社区, Shanice facilitates and educates in various learning spaces, directs the scholarship program for the Black Foundation of Community Networks (BFCN), a non-profit organization which supports Black students pursuing post-secondary education in Canada, and curates free community resources such as the BFCN Scholarship Directory, Jobs & Things, and All Black Everything Montreal. She is also the author of Dear Black Girls, a children鈥檚 book, published in 2021 by Metonymy Press. One of her favourite guiding quotes is by Maya Angelou and can be found in the signature of her email:聽"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."聽
