Foundations in Health Sciences Education (Grad. Cert.)

Program Description

The Graduate Certificate (Gr. Cert.) in Foundations in Health Sciences Education offered by the Institute of Health Sciences Education in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences is a course-based program that emphasizes engaging and fast-paced learning opportunities. Our comprehensive and innovative program offers a specialized and practical curriculum designed to equip students with advanced skills in health sciences education.

Unique Program Features

  • The program is delivered over 11 months (August to June) in a blended learning format. Aside from brief in-person, on-campus components the bulk of the program is completed part-time online synchronous and asynchronous instruction that includes organized classes, meetings and group work as well as offline learning (e.g. reading, individual projects, etc.);
  • The program is designed for practicing health professionals from medicine, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, veterinary medicine and other health care disciplines, health sciences educators. Additionally, senior health care learners, such as residents may also benefit from the program;
  • Students will acquire the foundational knowledge and skills to potentially pursue a Master鈥檚 degree or PhD in health sciences education;
  • Graduates may pursue leadership opportunities in clinical education, universities and education research.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
