Performance: Conducting (M.Mus.)

Program Description

The Master of Music (M.Mus.) in Performance: Conducting (Thesis) offered by the Schulich School of Music is a research-intensive program that emphasizes hands-on and dynamic learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in rehearsal techniques, communication, and analytics to either continue their studies or pursue professional opportunities.

Unique Program Features

  • The program provides for concentrated podium time, interactions with world-class conductors, score study, and the development of rehearsal technique;
  • Renowned faculty have experience on international stages in a wide range of orchestral, wind, contemporary, early music and choral repertoires;
  • Students have received Schulich scholarships and graduate excellence awards, and have also won Canada Council Grants, as well as national and international competitions leading to internships with the Canadian Opera Company, major Canadian Orchestras and choral ensembles, recording contracts, and chamber ensembles;
  • The School houses several performance spaces, research & production laboratories, and two libraries with a vast collection of music resources.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
