Andrea Bjorklund and Genevi猫ve Saumier appointed Norton Rose Fulbright Scholars

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Andrea K. Bjorklund and Professor Genevi猫ve Saumier have been named Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Scholars in International Arbitration and International Commercial Law for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Andrea K. Bjorklund is a full professor and holder of the L. Yves Fortier Chair in International Arbitration & International Commercial Law. She is an expert in international arbitration and litigation, international trade, and international investment. Professor Bjorklund is a vice-president of the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law and a member of the Advisory Board of the Investment Treaty Forum of the British Institute for International and Comparative Law. In 2022, she was appointed to the advisory board of the Hague Court of Arbitration for Aviation, administered by the Netherlands Arbitration Institute. She was also named to the Panel of Arbitrators for the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes of the World Bank Group.

Genevi猫ve Saumier is a full professor and Peter M. Laing QC Professor of Law. Her research focuses on consumer law, the resolution of international disputes, and cross-border class actions. Her papers on private international law and on consumer arbitration have been cited many times by the Supreme Court of Canada. A titular member of the International Academy of Comparative Law and of the American Association of Private International Law, she has been a member of the board of the Office de la protection du consommateur since 2012. She was appointed co-rapporteur for the judgments convention project at the Hague Conference on Private International Law. In 2016, she received the Canadian Bar Association鈥檚 Paul-Andr茅-Cr茅peau Medal.
