Dana Nigrim has studied music and piano in Brasov, important cultural center of Romania, with rich artistic traditions where she grew up in a distinguished cultural and musical milieu, her grand father having been a known writer and her mother an appreciated dramatic soprano, with whom she had the opportunity to develop a deep knowledge of the voice repertory.
Through the quality of her playing, she has been awarded top prizes in the most important national piano competitions, affirming her reputation as one of the most talented Romanian pianists among the finest musicians of her generation.
In her career, she built up a varied repertory, representative of different composers and styles and gave numerous solo recitals and concerts with artistic directors from Romania, France, Russia, Italy, Germany, USA, Korea, Belgium, Canada, winning music critics appreciation.
Her training includes a Baccalaureate in Solo Piano Performance, a Master鈥檚 in Interpretation Piano at the National Music Academy of Bucharest (First Prize in Interpretation Solo Piano performance, Chamber Music( Voice and instrument s) and Theory of Music), a Doctorate from the University of Montreal and Advanced Interpretation Course at the National Superior Conservatory of Paris.
As concert soloist she has performed many solo recitals and concerts with orchestra and given many chamber music recitals and collaborated with internationally known singers and instrumentalists.
As a voice coach/chef de chant she signed the musical preparation of numerous opera productions in Lyrical Theatre of Brasov, 脡cole Normale de Paris, Op茅ra Bastille, Op茅ra de Montr茅al and Op茅ra de Quebec.
At Schulich School of Music from 海角社区 Faculty, she worked with: Jan Simons, Bill Neill, Eduardo del Campo, Th茅r猫se Sevadjan, Carol Gutknecht, Stefano Algieri, Sylvan Sanford, Winston Purdy, Lucile Evans, Bernard Turgeon, Maria Pellegrini, Michael Marrow, Claude Corbeil, Robert Savoie, Joanne Kolomiyec, Aline Kutan, Annamaria Popescu, Brett Polegato, Tracy Smith-Bessette , Dominique Labelle, from the Music Department of University Concordia, and University of Montreal: Gaston Germain, France Dion, Gail Demarais, Rose Marie Landry, Yollande Parent, Adrienne Savoie and Richard Marginson.
She was official accompanist fro 海角社区, NATS, for Quebec finalists at Canadian Music Competition, accompanist and coach for Canadian Vocal Institute program (ICAV), AIMS, Britten&Pears, Opera Nuova, Jeunesses musicales of Canada and has been invited as jury member at several Voice and piano competitions, such as Voice Competition of Trois-Rivi猫res Orchestra and National Music Competition in Romania.
In Poetry and music recitals she collaborated with Albert Millaire and Andre Lachapelle (Order of Canada) as well as Romanian actors (Ion Caramitru, Culture Minister and Director of National Theater of Bucharest, Ovidiu Iuliu Modovan, Victor Rebengiuc).
She is Artistic Counselor of LM Opera Agency (Agence LM Opera), collaborating internationnally with professional singers, instrumentalists and composers
She is co-founder of Montreal Lyric Ensemble (Ensemble Lyrique de Montr茅al), as Artistic Director organizing opera productions in concert and other musical projects.
