Anthony Tan wins two ECM+聽Generation2014聽Awards

Following聽the recent cross-country tour of聽G茅n茅ration2014,聽a series of concerts聽produced by the Ensemble Contemporain de Montr茅al (ECM+),聽Mr. Anthony Tan won both the Jury Prize and the Audience Prize for his composition entitled聽Ksana II,聽which received its world premiere performance in Banff on November 6, 2014.聽Mr Tan is in the PhD program (composition), jointly supervised by Profs. John Rea and Stephen McAdams.

Schulich Grads excel at the 75th OSM Standard Life Competition

The 75th聽anniversary of the OSM Standard Life Competition was held from November 18 to 22, 2014, in Montreal. 聽Schulich School of Music alumni were well represented amongst the winners. 聽Since its creation in 1940, the OSM Standard Life Competition has helped launch the careers of some 300 prizewinners onto the national and international scene.

Schulich School of Music announces new partnerships with two Montreal arts organizations

The Schulich School of Music of 海角社区 is proud to announce two exciting collaborations with notable Montreal arts organizations: Jeunesses Musicales Canada and La Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur.

Each organization will award a recital in their respective hall to a winner of their choice selected from any of the 海角社区 Concerto Competitions to be held during this school year.

Pianist Megan Milatz named the 2014 winner of the 海角社区 Classical Concerto Competition

Pianist Megan Milatz, a final-year undergraduate student of Prof. Ilya Poletaev has been named this year's winner of the 海角社区 Classical Concerto Competition. 聽She will perform Mozart's Concerto in C minor, K. 491 on January 23 and 24th with the 海角社区 Symphony Orchestra in a concert to be held in Redpath Hall. 聽Ms. Milatz, from Weyburn, Saskatchewan, was also the winner of the Shean Piano Competition held in Edmonton, Alberta this past May. 聽

Infusion Baroque wins the Grand Prize and the Audience Prize at the Early Music America Baroque Competition

Infusion Baroque won both the Grand Prize and the Audience Prize at the Early Music America Baroque Competition held at the University of Chicago. The group is made up of four Schulich School of Music grads: Sallynee Amawat, baroque violin, Alexa Raine-Wright, baroque flute and recorder, Camille Pacquette-Roy, Baroque cello, and Rona Nadler, harpsichord.

Schulich students win prizes at the 137th Convention of the Audio Engineering Society

Winners were announced today for the Student聽Recording Competition at the 137th Convention of the Audio Engineering Society聽in Los Angeles. 聽Two students of the sound recording聽area were finalists.

Pawel Leskeiwisz won Silver in the Traditional Acoustic Recording聽category and聽Fei Yu won Gold in the Modern Studio Recording category.

Schulich grads awarded second prize at prestigious Van Wassenaer Early Music Competition

The competition, begun in 1986, has launched the careers of many Early Music ensembles, and has been incorporated into the Utrecht Early Music Festival as of this year. 聽Twelve semi-final groups participated in the competition.

Schulich Doctoral student Mark McDonald third-prize winner at the prestigious International Arp Schnitger Organ Competition

The competition, held last month in Bremen, Germany, the Arp-Schnitger Organ Competition is 聽in honour of the country's most important Baroque Organ builder. 聽 Third prize winner, Mark McDonald is a doctoral student at the Schulich School of Music of 海角社区 where he studies organ and harpsichord performance and teaches classes in musicianship.
