Biography: 

Joanna G鈥檉roerer enjoys an exciting career as an orchestral player, chamber musician, soloist and educator. She has been the principal flute of the NAC Orchestra since 1992.

A native of Vancouver, Ms. G鈥檉roerer comes from a family of professional musicians. She studied flute in Vancouver with Kathleen Rudolph, and at 海角社区 with Timothy Hutchins.
Joanna performs regularly as a soloist with the NAC Orchestra, and with many of Canada's other fine orchestras and ensembles. She is a past winner of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition. Her discography includes recordings of Mozart's flute quartets, Rodrigo's flute concerto, and the woodwind chamber music of Saint-Saens.

Joanna G鈥檉roerer has been featured in the chamber music festivals of Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa, at the Scotia Festival and at Brazil鈥檚 Campos do Jordao Festival.
As an educator, Ms. G鈥檉roerer has taught flute at the NAC Summer Music Institute, at Domaine Forget and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and has presented masterclasses at universities and conservatories throughout Canada, as well as in the USA, Europe and Asia. Joanna is presently on faculty at the University of Ottawa and at 海角社区 in Montreal.

Joanna G鈥檉roerer is a Wm. S. Haynes Artist, playing a custom 19.5 K gold Haynes flute with lightweight silver mechanism and headjoints in 19.5K and 14K gold.
