Three 海角社区 faculties -- Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Arts, and Science -- have pooled their resources to create the听Bieler School of Environment听. Over 100 faculty members from both the downtown and Macdonald 海角社区 campuses, are contributing in some way to the School.
How does NRS contribute to Bieler School of Environment?
The NRS department is closely connected to听Bieler School of Environment. Many of our professors are associate members of the Bieler School of Environment and teach Bieler School of Environment core courses. The courses offered by Bieler School of Environment are multi-disciplinary and try to encourage systems thinking about current environmental issues. Students from a wide variety of backgrounds are welcomed and add diversity to the program. 听
Students registered in the Bieler School of Environment through the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (FAES), also obtain a BSc (AES), although the structure of Bieler School of Environment programs differs dramatically from the other FAES programs: the core Bieler School of Environment courses are not aligned with the other BSc (AES) Majors, and instead of specializations, students in the Bieler School of Environment select 鈥榙辞尘补颈苍蝉鈥 that reflect specific thematic areas of study.
There is a number of exciting research themes that are explored in Bieler School of Environment programs, such as:
- Health in a changing environment
- Ecosystems, Biodiversity and conservation
- Citizen鈥檚 communities, Institutions and the environment
- Rethinking Social-Ecological relationships
