Anita J. Gagnon is Associate Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Director and Professor at the Ingram School of Nursing of 海角社区, and holder of the Flora Madeleine Shaw Chair. She is a professional nurse with a master's degree in Public Health (MPH) from Johns Hopkins University and a doctoral degree (PhD) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from 海角社区. She has been Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on several grants and has presented and published in many national and international venues on the reproductive health and care of internationally migrant women. She was the Inaugural Co-Leader of Reproductive Outcomes and Migration (ROAM), an International Research Collaboration, in which researchers from several countries and continents participated.鈥 Although Professor Gagnon鈥檚 major administrative responsibilities since 2015 have diminished her availability for research, efforts to reduce health inequities worldwide remain her passion.听

Since her appointment as Associate Dean and Director of the ISoN in 2015,听Professor Gagnon continues to lead and oversee the School鈥檚 education, research and service missions, promoting the highest standards of excellence in all areas of the School鈥檚 activities and representing its interests as a member of the Faculty Deanery Executive and in a range of university, provincial and national meetings. Under her leadership, the ISoN opened its new facilities on Sherbrooke Street, including a state-of-the-art simulation centre, expanded its Nurse Practitioner Program and launched Quebec鈥檚 first online Bachelor of Nursing (Integrated) Program, in response to the critical societal need for university-prepared nurses and for nurse practitioners. As well, Professor Gagnon recommends academic appointments and promotions to the Dean, while overseeing听continuous quality improvement initiatives across the School's various programs and mandates and seeking philanthropic funding for special initiatives. She also is responsible for the ISoN's administrative staff, who are integral to the smooth functioning of the School.
