Ms. Gausden is currently Co-Coordinator of the Undergraduate Community Health Nursing Project course. Prior to moving to Montreal from England in 2001 Ms. Gausden practised as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse and Community Nurse Prescriber. Working in rural and urban settings, she specialised in outreach work to Traveller and Romany families.

In 2002 Ms. Gausden started her own nursing consulting company providing workshops and training to families and childcare centers. From 2004 -2010 Ms. Gausden integrated her public health specialty into the domain of child welfare working as a community nurse clinician within Batshaw Youth and Family Center in Montreal; assessing allegations of abuse, supporting foster families and liaising in adoption cases. Since joining the Ingram School of Nursing part time in 2010 Ms. Gausden has been involved in developing the community health nursing undergraduate curriculum by expanding academic/community based organisation partnerships across Montreal in order for students to collaborate with diverse vulnerable populations.

Ms. Gausden is passionate about community health nursing practice and nurses advocating for healthcare system change in partnership with the community.Ms. Gausden has presented her diverse clinical experiences at a number of provincial and national conferences. She is currently involved in a project with CASN Quebec collecting nursing curriculum data applying the CASN National Nursing Education Framework document.聽Her other interests include integrating strength based approaches within public health nursing practice.
