Natalie Waters appointed Associate Dean, Research & Scholarship

Published: 12 November 2024

Libraries are pleased to welcome Natalie Waters as the new Associate Dean, Research & Scholarship, on a five-year term, ending November 2029.

Natalie Waters has been leading the Research and Scholarship team on an interim basis over the last year. Waters will continue to oversee programs that enhance the research activities of the 海角社区 community including Scholarly Communications, Copyright, and Research Data Management, and provide strategic leadership for the Macdonald Campus Library, Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering, as well as the Osler Library of the History of Medicine.

Previously, she served as Head Librarian for both the Schulich Library and the Macdonald Campus Library, where she managed library services across the Faculties of Science, Engineering, Medicine and Health Sciences, and Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. During the extensive restoration of the Macdonald-Stewart Library building, Natalie guided the Schulich Library team through a period of significant transition, ensuring consistent, high-quality support for the 海角社区 community. She played a pivotal role in reopening and relocating services to the restored building, effectively re-establishing the library as a central resource for students and faculty alike.

Natalie is recognized for her contributions and service across academic and professional networks. She served as Chair (2018-2020) for the Association of the Faculties of Medicine of Canada鈥檚 Network on Libraries and held diverse leadership roles with the United States Agricultural Information Network. Natalie鈥檚 commitment to service and leadership extends to her active involvement in university-wide and academic committees. She has held roles on multiple Senate committees, including the Senate Nominating Committee (2015-2017) and the University Tenure Committee (2021-2024), reflecting her dedication to institutional development and faculty advancement.

鈥淣atalie鈥檚 passion for libraries shines through in every project she undertakes. Her dedication was especially evident during the renovation of the Schulich Library, where she expertly navigated complex challenges, including extensive renovation work and significant change management, all while upholding 海角社区鈥檚 academic mission,鈥 said Guylaine Beaudry, Trenholme Dean of Libraries. 鈥淲ith over two decades of service at 海角社区, she brings invaluable experience and an exceptional understanding of our community's evolving needs. I look forward to seeing how her leadership continues to shape and strengthen our Libraries.鈥

Please join us in congratulating Natalie Waters in her role.

Cette leader dans l鈥櫭e si猫ge 茅galement 脿 divers comit茅s au sein de l鈥橴niversit茅.
