Nineteen members of the 海角社区 community have been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal. The medal is conferred on individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region or community, or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.

As part of the celebrations marking its听70th anniversary, 海角社区鈥檚 Bellairs Research Institute opened its doors to the community Dec. 5. Three hundred students from five local schools were treated to free science kits, lunch and a day of hands-on activities.

Mapping the Benefits and Trade-offs from Natural Climate Solutions
A new study published today in Nature Sustainability uses advanced machine learning methods and large language models to assess the benefits and trade-offs of natural climate solutions (NCS).听
Led by The Nature Conservancy and co-led by Brian Robinson, Associate Professor of Geography at 海角社区, the researchers analyzed over 250,000 peer-reviewed publications to produce a global evidence map of NCS co-impacts.听

Representing 海角社区鈥檚 Chemistry Department, the MC虏 facility, and the QCAM-FRQNT strategic cluster, Petr Fiurasek was honored to be invited to the University of C贸rdoba to deliver two lectures. One presentation was part of the advanced characterization course for physics master鈥檚 students. Beyond the scientific discussions, the visit aimed to foster collaboration between the University of C贸rdoba and Quebec universities through MITACS and various mobility programs
Small berries, big achievements
He鈥檚 known as the king of cranberries. More than anyone else, Marc Bieler (DipAgr鈥58, BA鈥64) has contributed to Quebec鈥檚 thriving industry centred on a small red fruit with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Today, at the age of 86, this 海角社区 alumnus continues to be involved in the day-to-day operation of the family business and to give back to the community.

Unleashing Creativity at the 海角社区 Physics Hackathon
On November 15th 鈥 17th, the Trottier Space Institute and the Department of Physics hosted its 9th Annual 海角社区 Physics Hackathon. This friendly coding competition brought together 163 people, from grade 10 high school students to graduate students. Participants had a total of 24 hours over the span of 3 days to create computing and physical science projects in teams.
