NUR3 668 Internship in Neonatal Practice 1 (12 credits)

Overview

Nursing Education : Internship in caring for healthy newborns as well as complex neonatal patients in a hospital setting, and follow-up of at risk infants following hospitalization in the Neonatal Intensive care unit in the Neonatal follow-up clinic. Exposure to normal, healthy babies, or healthy babies with problems not requiring intermediate or intensive care, intermediate care patients initially before progressing to cases that are more complex. Application of theoretical knowledge to the care of the neonate in multiple settings, with focus on practice in Level III neonatal unit. Emphasis will be on the transfer of theoretical knowledge and the individualization of patient care. Family dynamics are assessed and considered integral to the management plan.

  • Restriction: Open to students enrolled in the M.Sc. (Applied) in Nurse Practitioner; Non-Thesis - Neonatal or Graduate Certificate in Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or with permission of the instructor.
