Dr. Steven Paraskevas is an Associate Professor of Surgery at º£½ÇÉçÇø and a Transplant Surgeon at the Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH). He also serves as the Director of Pancreas and Islet Transplantation and Director of Transplant Research at the º£½ÇÉçÇø Health Centre (MUHC). Dr. Paraskevas’ clinical and research interests focus on developing cell-based therapeutic strategies for type 1 diabetes and improving immunotherapy to enhance graft-specific tolerance in transplant recipients. His work also explores islets of Langerhans, cell death, inflammation, and ischemia-reperfusion injury. A former President of the Canadian Society of Transplantation, he remains an active leader within Canada's organ donation and transplantation community. Dr. Paraskevas also contributes to the Kidney Transplant Advisory Committee of Canadian Blood Services. His groundbreaking research and leadership continue to shape the future of transplant medicine in Canada.Â
