Preparation of human cells for cell therapy clinical trials.聽
Dr. Nicoletta Eliopoulos is a scientist with expertise in adult stem and progenitor cells for pre-clinical and clinical cell and/or gene therapy studies.聽
Her main research as a Principal Investigator at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research (LDI) is exploring the use of mesenchymal stem cells for tissue protection and repair, as well as for delivery of beneficial gene products for various diseases, such as kidney injury and cancer.聽
In addition, Dr. Eliopoulos is the Laboratory Director of the Jewish General Hospital Cell Processing Center (JGH CPC), a clinical-grade cell handling facility which is committed to fostering early-phase clinical trials testing cell-based technologies. She was involved in the processing of adult progenitor cells for the first cell and gene therapy clinical trial in Canada. She is an active member of the FRQS鈥疶h茅Cell鈥疦etwork, a Cell, Tissue and Gene Therapy Network in Quebec.聽
Pre-clinical research, with potential for clinical translation, exploring novel cell and gene therapies using adult stem cells for the treatment of kidney disease and of cancer.聽
