jake moore is an intermedia artist, exhibition maker and academic currently engaged in PhD studies under the supervision of Christine Ross. She works at the intersections of material, text, and vocality. She considers her primary medium to be space, its production, and its occupation through writing and many other actions. She holds a diploma in furniture design and construction from the School of Crafts and Design, Sheridan College, a BFA in Sculpture and an MFA in Fibres and Material Practices both from Concordia University where she was a McConnell Fellow. Her graduate work in interactive textiles and sound installation; Transceptive Schematics, was supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
She is currently investigating art and spatial politics through vocality and its material resonance in the work of Rebecca Belmore, Susan Philipsz, Sharon Hayes, and Irena Haiduk in her project, Viscous Air and Surface Tensions supported through the Fonds de recherche Societ茅 et culture. She proposes a recuperated listening, disentangled from the ear, as a research methodology.
She has exhibited nationally, worked as both a curator and in gallery direction, and her written work has been published in .dpi, Poolside, Critical Distance, C Magazine, ESSE, Canadian Art, (among others) as well as in numerous exhibition catalogues, most recently for Chlo毛 Lum and Yannick Desranleau, this is the sound that bird makes. She is presently co-editing a book, L鈥檃gir en condition hyperconnect茅e. Art et images 脿 l鈥櫯搖vre, an extension of the symposium of the same name produced through the intrauniversity research group M茅diatopias and to be released by Les Presses de l鈥橴niversit茅 de Montr茅al in 2019.
