Postdoctoral position in accessible computing technologies, School of Information Studies
The Accessible Computing Technologies research group at 海角社区 () is pleased to announce a position for a postdoctoral fellow. Outstanding candidates with a background in HCI and Accessibility are sought for this position. Start date is flexible, with a preference for starting during Summer or early Fall 2015.
This position will focus on the design and evaluation of intergenerational storytelling tools as part of an AGE-WELL (() project to provide new opportunities to older adults for creating, sharing, and acquiring information via the development of innovative technological platforms. This is a collaborative project and the position will require active collaboration with partners at the University of Toronto () and Simon Fraser University.
Applicants must be comfortable leading user centered research and design, and have a PhD in Computer Science, Human-Centered Computing, Information Systems, Interaction Design, or a related field. Applicants must also must have excellent interpersonal, writing and research skills, strong time management and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and work both independently and as a member of the multidisciplinary research team.
Preference will be given to applicants with enthusiasm for and demonstrated experience with accessibility research, working closely with end users, and mentoring students. Preference will also be given to applicants with a solid track record of publications at top conferences such as CHI, ASSETS, DIS, CSCW, Ubicomp, IUI, or UIST.
The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to various aspects of the project including the design and execution of longitudinal deployment studies, and helping to coordinate efforts across the multiple sites. The candidate will also help supervise and coordinate graduate students. S/he will also have the option to develop and pursue additional projects related to accessibility.
Position length is 16 months with an option to extend.
