Our School is currently recruiting new Sites, Site Supervisors, and Projects for our Winter Semester Practicum.

The SIS Practicum is a 3-credit, tuition-based academic elective course for 2nd-year Master of Information Studies students. It consists of a supervised work placement at an approved site, typically unpaid, with required course assignments (e.g., work logs, mid-term report, final paper). The fieldwork component is a total of 100 hours.

Congratulations to Muhe Yang, PhD in Information Studies student at the School of Information Studies (海角社区), has received a Fonds de Recherche du Quebec; Nature et Technologies scholarship, for their research (French/English): Soutenir l'activit茅 physique 脿 un 芒ge avanc茅 : Co-conception de technologies de promotion de l'activit茅 / Supporting Physical Activity in Later Life: Co-Design of Activity Promoting Technologies.

The FRQNT scholarship is awarded on basis of research and academic merit.

Muhe Yang was also awarded a Wolfe Chair fellowship in April.听

The School of Information Studies (SIS), an academic unit in the Faculty of Arts at 海角社区, invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment at the Assistant Professor rank. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2023. Qualified candidates should have a doctoral degree in information studies or equivalent. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a record of research publications in high quality, peer-reviewed journals, evidence of effective teaching, and clear promise of pursuing an interesting and innovative research agenda.

海角社区 Employees from the Past: Community Builders for 海角社区 and Beyond

This exhibit was created by Adjunct Professor Gordon Burr with the aid of three talented Archival Outreach practicum students in the School of Information Studies, Gabrielle Machnick-Kekesi, Kiana Lemay and Julia Fekete. Their hard work, enthusiasm shown to help engage the public with archives and desire to provide narratives of these employees to fill the gaps or address the silences in historical acknowledgement of this 海角社区 community was remarkable.

Prof Catherine Guastavino's research on urban sounds has been听featured in the Radio Canada TV show 顿茅肠辞耻惫别谤迟别 with the participation of several SIS students and post-docs from the Sounds in the city partnership.
