CSCE

The first question people ask me when talking about the CSCE is this: what the heck is the CSCE?

You might not have heard of it before, but that four-letter acronym stands for Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE).

The CSCE is a national professional society whose membership is consisted of practicing civil engineers, corporations, professors, and students like you. The society promotes professional development, exchange of knowledge, public awareness, and networking in the field of Civil Engineering. For students, an annual $10 membership fee is required before you become a member of the CSCE.

As a student member, you are entitled to many benefits, and opportunities to meet with practicing civil engineers in the community. Benefits include subscription to the quarterly Canadian Civil Engineer magazine; discount on CSCE publications such as technical reports and conference proceedings; discount on technical activities, conferences, and courses organized by the CSCE. Student members can also participate in annual CSCE competitions such as the Undergraduate Student Papers Session and the Undergraduate Student Project Reports Contest. Aside from these deals that come with the "basic package", there are locally developed lecture series, presentations, and industry tours that your Student Chapter Executives will be busy organizing for members.

However, the best part of being a 海角社区 student member is the opportunity to receive our sponsorship. For our members who are involved in Concrete Toboggan, Concrete Canoe, or Bridge Building, we will provide financial assistance for them to compete in annual national events such as the Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Competition, Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition, and the Concordia Bridge Building Competition.

So, what are you waiting for? Become a member today! Annual membership fee for students is only $10! Your 海角社区 Student Chapter President will be out there with full force signing members up during O-Week and the 1st few weeks of September, so don't miss this opportunity!
