Fees and financial aid

Fees

Students should use 海角社区鈥檚 tuition and fees calculator to determine the approximate total annual cost for their program. Tuition depends on a student鈥檚 residency/citizenship status (Quebec, Non-Quebec Canadian, or International).

Fees and tuition do not include the cost of living.

Financial aid (subject to revision)

Beginning in Fall 2025, the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences is able to offer incoming international PhD students a minimum annual stipend of $35,000 for their 1st year and $30,000 for their 2nd and 3rd years in the PhD program. Approximately $22,000 of this will be credited to your tuition expenses. The remaining portion should be used to pay any remaining fees and living expenses. Students are strongly encouraged to submit applications for external and internal funding competitions. This should be discussed in greater depth with potential supervisors.

The Faculty is able to offer incoming domestic PhD students a minimum annual stipend of $25,000 for 3 years. A portion of this will be credited to your tuition expenses. The remaining portion should be used to pay any remaining fees and living expenses. Students are strongly encouraged to submit applications for external and internal funding competitions. This should be discussed in greater depth with potential supervisors.

GPS has compiled data on Average PhD Financial Support awarded by various Faculties at 海角社区.

Differential fee waivers (DFWs) for international students

A portion of some international students' stipends may be in the form of a Differential Fee Waiver (DFW). 海角社区鈥檚 GPS office allocates the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences a limited number of DFWs for incoming international students. International students who are awarded a DFW by the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences will be charged the same tuition as Quebec students.

To be eligible to receive a DFW, international students must apply for admission to the PhD program in the Fall semester. Sponsored students are not eligible to receive a DFW. All eligible incoming international students are automatically considered for DFWs. There is no special application process.

DFWs are merit-based.

The number of DFWs the Faculty may allocate is limited and varies from year to year. Not all incoming international students will receive a DFW. Students who do receive a DFW should only expect to benefit from the fee waiver for their first year of studies. DFWs are rarely allocated to PhD students after their first year.
