Students Going Abroad

International management is emphasized throughout our curriculum, regardless of specialization. In addition, international exchanges are offered with leading management schools worldwide.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities to study abroad for a term or year. The international exposure and academic experience gained by taking part in student exchange are highly worthwhile. Through this program, students may study and earn academic credits at over 60universities in countries around the world.听Exchange opportunities are open to students in most specializations.

Step 1: Explore

    It is important to review the host institution information available on their fact sheet and website (available on the Study Abroad website above), such as the semester dates, language of instructions and course availability. The key is to research, research research!

Step 2: Apply

  • There is a CGPA requirement of 3.0 to be eligible for exchange.
  • Only U1, U2 and U3 students are eligible for exchange (have completed at least 24 graded 海角社区 credits by the start of your term abroad).
  • A non-refundable application fee will be charged to your student account.
  • See Deadline to apply

Step 3: Accept

  • Accept your 海角社区 exchange nomination

    • After accepting your nomination, you鈥檒l be added to a special course in myCourses. You will receive specific instructions from Service Point/Exchange Office on how to apply to the host in the form of an 鈥渁ssignment鈥. DO NOT apply to the host university until you have received these instructions. Note that there may be a delay of a few weeks to a few months between your nomination and the host application instructions.

  • Apply for admission to your host university

  • Start course equivalency approval process after hearing from your host university

    • Depending on your host institution鈥檚 credit weight, in order to obtain 15 海角社区 transfer credits, you may be required to register for as less as 3 courses to as much as 10 courses. Please read carefully our Course equivalency and transfer credit page.

    • Sessions will be held to听learn more about course planning, 海角社区's travel registry, the course equivalency database and how and when to complete the Transfer Credit Assessment Form in Minerva.

  • If you decide to cancel Exchange you need to fill out the .


Step 4: Finalize

  • Report your courses on the Minerva Transfer Credit Assessment Form

    • The Minerva Transfer Credit Assessment Form attached to your Faculty Approved 海角社区 Exchange application must also be completed in order to be eligible to receive transfer credit. Once your courses have been assessed on the 海角社区鈥檚 Course Equivalency System, and you have registered at the host, access Minerva to begin the process of adding the course(s) you are taking at the host university. Notify the bcom.mgmt [at] mcgill.ca (subject: Transfer%20Credit%20Assessment%20Form%20submitted) (BCom Office by email) at bcom.mgmt [at] mcgill.ca that a form has been completed.

    • The host school will include visa information in their acceptance materials. For visa-related issues, please contact the Embassy or Consulate of the country where you will be studying.

    • It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the 海角社区 BCom requirements for all courses taken on exchange.
    • Students who are taking one or more courses at another university during their term of graduation MAY delay their graduation by one term. Please consult with a BCom advisor.听

Step 5: Post-Exchange

  • Complete your exchange

  • Arrange to have your transcript sent to 海角社区

    • The preferred method is for the host university to directly email the听Official Transcript听to听officialschooldocs [at] mcgill.ca听A Registrar's Hold may be placed on your record if your final official transcript is not received by the deadline you have been given. This hold will prevent you from making changes to your student record or ordering official transcripts on Minerva. Furthermore, you听may be charged a fee听for any changes that need to be made to your student record after government reporting deadlines have passed.
