35 Indigenous Students Participate in OFNIE Annual Summer Institute

From July 2nd to the 23rd, 35 Indigenous students from Kawawachikamach and across Nunavik and Eeyou-Eenou Ischee participated in the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) All-Partners Summer Programming at 海角社区鈥檚 downtown campus for the OFNIE Annual Summer Institute.

Margaret Mackenzie, Samantha Nepton, and Taylor Richardson, Winners of McCall MacBain Scholarships

Margaret Mackenzie (BEd鈥�23), Samantha Nepton听(BEd鈥�23), and Taylor Richardson (BFA'23 Towson University), are winners of McCall MacBain Scholarships, Canada鈥檚 largest leadership-based scholarships for master鈥檚 and professional studies.

Each finalist was chosen based on their character, community engagement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic strength, and intellectual curiosity:

Dr. Aziz Choudry in Manchester

DISE's Dr. Aziz Choudry will take part in a panel discussion presented by the Northern Police Monitoring Project in Manchester, UK.

CBC recently published an article on the topic of Quebec's proposed ban on religious symbols for civil servants, including teachers:听"Aspiring teacher may leave Quebec if CAQ follows through on religious symbol ban", by Benjamin Shingler and Jaela Bernstien.听

DISE students and alumni establish Canadian non-profit

Students and alumni from 海角社区's Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) have co-founded the non-religious non-profit Centre for Civic Religious Literacy (CCRL) to promote civic religious literacy through educational programming.
