Pollack Hall, located in º£½ÇÉçÇø's Strathcona Music Building, is the Schulich School of Music's largest performance venue.

The 600-seat hall has a green room, a large lobby and an adjoining lounge sometimes used for receptions. Approximately 400 concerts, lectures and other events are held annually in the hall.Ìý

The key objectives of the project are to transform and modernize Pollack Hall’s functional and aesthetic design, to improve its seating, lighting, and audiovisual capacity, to renovate support spaces such as the backstage and artists’ facilities, and to upgrade the HVAC systems. Ìý

Scope of work includes (but is not limited to):Ìý

  • Improvement of overall accessibility of the hall, including provision for barrier-free seating.ÌýÌý
  • Replacement of stage equipment.ÌýÌý
  • Renovation of the orchestra pit.ÌýÌý
  • Reconfiguration of the back-of-house spaces.Ìý
  • Expansion and complete renovation of two washrooms.ÌýÌý
  • Revamping of the East Lounge.ÌýÌý
  • Replacement of mechanical units.Ìý
  • Complete asbestos removal.Ìý

What to expect

Some activities have been relocated:

  • Details on the relocation of academic activities and performances normally held at Pollack Hall are communicated by the Schulich School of Music.Ìý
  • Customer service for Student Housing and Dining Services, normally located at University Hall (3473 University St.), has relocated to 3465 Durocher from April 30, 2024, to the end of the Fall 2025 semester.Ìý
  • The Royal Victoria College (RVC) dining hall is closed for the Fall 2024 term. A temporary dining hall location is availableÌýto RVC residents only.
