The comprehensive assessment, also known as farm project, is the program's capstone project aiming at assessing that the students have attained the objectives and standards of their program of study.
The objective is to allow students to demonstrate they have acquired the program competencies by writing a 5-year business plan for either an existing farm or start-up project.
The comprehensive assessment is done at the end of the program and is covered over two courses. In the fall semester, through Enterprise Management 2 (FMT4-021), the students must layout the background of their plan and demonstrate their capacity to apply the technical aspects of the programs. In the winter semester, through Enterprise Management 3 (FMT4-025), the students must build on the technical aspects they have developed and produce a cohesive and sound business plan, following specific requirements to justify decisions they will make using their business management, marketing and human resource management skills, given their respective situations.
This business plan allows students to demonstrate their autonomy in the application of what they have learned throughout the program.
The objective of this examination is to ensure that students have attained the objectives and standards for each competency in the program. Successful completion of the comprehensive assessment is mandatory to obtain the DEC.
The passing grade is 60%. The mark indicating that the student has successfully completed the comprehensive assessment will appear on the student's transcript.
