Safe usage of your 海角社区 username and password
Weak or stolen passwords are hackers鈥 primary points of entry. If you use the same password for various accounts (even if it a strong password), a security breach for one of those accounts puts all accounts at risk.
If you are prompted to create new credentials, make sure to create a unique password for your new account and:

New recipient limit for Non-2FA enabled 海角社区 email accounts
In an effort to limit the impacts of unsolicited and fraudulent emails being sent in large numbers to the 海角社区 community, 海角社区鈥檚 IT Infrastructure & Information Security has decided to limit the number of emails that can be sent from non-2FA (two-factor authentication) enabled email accounts.
VPN UPDATE: Cisco AnyConnect has been replaced by Cisco Secure Client
The way we currently access 海角社区鈥檚 VPN (via Cisco AnyConnect) has been replaced by Cisco Secure Client. Cisco Secure Client is an upgraded version of Cisco AnyConnect and offers enhanced features, security and performance.听

Wi-Fi network: Messages on iOS and MacOS devices
On July 11th, the security certificate that secures authentication to 海角社区's wpa.mcgill.ca, eduroam, and cusm-muhc.mcgill.ca Wi-Fi networks was renewed. This certificate allows you to sign on to the Wi-Fi network in a secure manner. For Android and most Windows devices, no change was necessary, but most iOS and MacOS devices are displaying a message that prompts users to accept the certificate.
New two-factor authentication (2FA) enhancements
Over the next few months, we will introduce enhancements for those of you that use Microsoft Authenticator for two-factor authentication (2FA), and make it much easier for you to report suspicious emails in Outlook.

UNIWeb decommissioning on Aug.11, 2023
On August 11, 2023, UNIWeb will no longer be accessible to 海角社区 staff and students.听 Given the very low usage rate and relatively high cost of the UNIWeb license, the decision has been taken to discontinue access to this tool.听
