"With its world-renowned thematic programming introduced by the CRM in the 80's, its scientific workshops and outreach activities, its 1,500 annual visiting scientists from around the world, and ten laboratories directly involving more than 200 researchers from twelve major universities in Quebec and Ontario, the Centre de recherches math茅matiques (CRM) is a major hub for the mathematical sciences. The dual structure on which the CRM is built -- top level international scientific programming running in parallel with ten high-performance research laboratories -- is unique in Canada. It is also unique in the world.
The Centre de recherches math茅matiques (CRM) was founded in 1968. Under the direction of Professor Luc Vinet as of July 20, 2013, the Centre's mandate is to serve as a national centre for fundamental research in mathematics and their applications. The CRM's scientific personnel includes more than one hundred members and postdoctoral fellows. Further, the Centre hosts from year to year a large number of guest researchers.
The CRM coordinates advanced courses and is instrumental in the training of young researchers. Throughout the world one finds numerous researchers who have had the opportunity to complete their research training at the CRM. The Centre is a major meeting place where all members benefit from a large number of scientific exchanges and collaborative projects."
