1. Emergency Measures at 海角社区

Over 70 managers attended the "Emergency Measures at 海角社区" plenary held in the Redpath Museum Auditorium. The three presenters highlighted 海角社区's Emergency Measures Plan and showed a segment of the DVD: in an effort to raise awareness of hostile intruders. The tips provided in the video were very relevant for the audience and plans are in place by University Services for wider dissemination in the coming months.

2. Future of M-Compensation

Lynne Gervais, Associate Vice-Principal, presented M-Compensation and salary policy 2008聽[.pptx] to over 275 海角社区 M's at a terrific plenary held at New Residences Hall.

The presentation was packed full of information. Some highlights included the introduction of Target Pay as a main reference point for competitive pay, three salary zones, new salary scale, increase in the difference between min & max, and the already approved 3-year salary policy (2008, 2009, and 2010).

3. Integrated Services Projects

The theme of today's presentation was "Change is coming to 海角社区 student services". 50 海角社区 managers attended the "Integrated Services Projects" plenary held in Leacock 232. The presentation highlighted a change to the way services will be delivered, moving from a decentralized to a very integrated approach. Services for students currently provided by several existing units will be offered at a single service point: "Service POINT de service". Plans are underway to house the new inititative on the first floor of the McLennan Library on the corner of McTavish and Sherbrooke streets. Relocation is anticipated by January 2010.

4. 海角社区 Governance 101"

If you want to know anything about how 海角社区 is governed, ask the Secretary-General, Johanne Pelletier and she will happily tell you. Today's plenary Plenary Pelltier聽[.ppt] brought out 35 managers. The plenary focussed on the different levels of governance and the importance of managers being involved in the process. In fact, there are six seats dedicated to administrative and support staff on Senate and one seat on the Board of Governors. The University Secretariat is also responsible for convocations and is always looking for volunteers to faciltiate the convocation experience.

Speaker Bio:

Johanne Pelletier has been Secretary-General at 海角社区 (Montreal) since 2006. In this role she leads a team in support of the University鈥檚 Board of Governors, the Senate and their respective committees and as well is responsible for the access to information and protection of privacy, dispute resolution mechanisms, and manages the University鈥檚 convocation ceremonies.

Between 1997 and 2006 Johanne was the University Archivist and Director of Archives and Records Management, and was active on numerous University committees/organizations (including MForum and the 海角社区 Women's Networking Group) and served as an Assessor under the Harassment Policy. Prior to joining 海角社区 Johanne served as Ontario鈥檚 Archives Advisor and worked in the cultural policy arena with the Ontario and Federal government. She has a BA and MA from 海角社区.
