FOOD AND DRINK
Patient Menu
The patient menu is planned using Canada鈥檚 Food Guide for Healthy Eating and other established nutritional standards. You may select your meal choices at any time, and they will be delivered to your room. Nutrition technicians from the Department of Clinical Nutrition will distribute and collect the menus from you. If you are unable to complete your menu, your technician will help you or make a selection for you.
Coffee Shop
The Caf茅 Vienne coffee shop (398-1926) is located on the third floor and sells meals and snacks.

Cell phone Wi-Fi Calling
Wi-Fi calling can be used in the North Wing or any other areas where there is poor cellular coverage.听 This can be done by enabling the Wi-Fi feature on your cellular device.听 This feature, available on iPhone IOS and Android devices, allows you to call and message (text and multimedia) over Wi-Fi when you have little or no cellular coverage.听 You can use Wi-Fi Calling to call and message as you do on the cellular network, even if the person on the other end is not using Wi-Fi Calling.
Please follow the steps indicated below to turn on Wi-Fi Calling:

- Open your iPhone Settings
- Select Phone or Cellular
- Select Wi-Fi Calling and turn on option
- You will need to read and accept the Wi-Fi Calling Terms and Conditions
- Enter your Emergency 911 Address

- Open Phone > Settings
- Select Call Settings
- Turn on Wi-Fi Calling
- Enter your phone number. You will be sent a text message with a 6 digit one-time passcode *
- Enter the 6 digit one-time passcode *
- You will need to read and accept the Wi-Fi Calling Terms and Conditions
- Enter your Emergency 911 Address

Phones
All patient rooms are equipped to provide telephone service. Local calls and toll-free calls can be made from your room or from the Neuro-Patient Resource Centre (room 354) by dialing 鈥9鈥 followed by the desired telephone number. Long-distance calls may be made by contacting Security at 5542.
Defective Telephones
If your telephone is defective, please contact your Nursing station and ask them to communicate with the telecommunications department.
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones are now permitted in all MUHC locations, but please respect the following constraints:
- You may use your cellular phone (or other wireless device) as long as you stay a minimum distance of one metre from any biomedical equipment.
- Please set mobile phones to vibrate
- Be sure to talk quietly and respectfully
- Keep phone calls as brief as possible
- Do not use the camera function without permission

SUPPORT SERVICES
The Friends of the Neuro

The Friends of the Neuro visit patients, help at clinics and assist with general decorating in the hospital. They also supervise 海角社区 student volunteers who circulate a cart with a variety of personal items and reading material you might need during your stay. The Friends of the Neuro organize numerous fundraising activities throughout the year. The money raised, together with the proceeds of Caf茅 Vienne, is used to meet direct patient care needs.
Volunteer Services
There are volunteers who work mostly at the patient鈥檚 side in specialized programs (514 934-1934, local 34300). Some of the programs are friendly, seasonal parties for patients, humour, music, arts and crafts and special events. Patients, their families and friends can expect a visit from well-trained and supervised volunteers from all walks of life and all age groups.
Private Duty Nurse
NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE
With your doctor鈥檚 approval, you may hire private nursing staff through the nursing office. The fee for such services is your responsibility. Private duty nurses must work under the direction of the nursing staff on the unit but they may not be permitted in some specialized care areas. Please discuss this with your nurse.
Security, Lost and Found - Main Lobby, Security Desk
Security staff is available 24 hours a day. Lost and found items can often be claimed at the Security Desk.
SPIRITUAL
Healing Garden
The Healing Garden in The Neuro鈥檚 North Wing welcomes patients, staff, students and visitors seeking a tranquil space.听It is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.听Access to the Healing Garden from inside The Neuro is through the nearby Jeanne Timmins Amphitheatre foyer, and from the hallway on the 2nd floor of the North Wing, where a staircase leads down to the Healing Garden.

Spiritual Care Services
- The Spiritual Care service offers spiritual, emotional and religious support.
- Spiritual Care professionals work daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays) and are available after hours for emergencies. Ask your nurse or unit coordinator to request Spiritual Care through Locating.
- Spiritual Care professionals do not represent any church or religious institution in particular, but respond to all patients in the greatest respect of their beliefs, values, or tradition. For specific needs, and if the patient requests it, they can contact representatives of diverse religious denominations.
- Spiritual Care professionals work in collaboration with other health professionals and participate on multidisciplinary teams, for the wellbeing of the patients and their loved ones.
- The Spiritual Care staff can help other clinical staff understand the religious practices and beliefs of patients in order to better care for them.
- The Spiritual Care professionals are women and men of diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. In addition to their university studies in Theology or Religious Sciences, they have completed clinical training in a hospital setting. They also follow the standards of practice and code of ethics of the L'Association des intervenantes et intervenants en soins spirituels du Qu茅bec (AIISSQ).
