Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid
Students must submit proof of valid certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and聽Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level HCP (Health Care Provider) or聽equivalent. The course must include artificial breathing and bagging/balloon mask, and adult,聽child and infant training.
It is the student鈥檚 responsibility to contact one of the CPR/First Aid聽course providers (e.g. Red Cross, St John鈥檚 Ambulance, Heart and Stroke Foundation...), to聽register and pay the registration fees.
Security (Criminal Records) Checks
At the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy at 海角社区, all students in the professional masters program must complete a self-declaration affidavit with respect to their criminal background during the first clinical seminar. In addition, affiliated teaching institutions may require students to complete an additional self-declaration and/or complete a police background criminal record check before commencing a clinical practicum course. (see e-fieldwork for more information about this)
Language Requirements
Working knowledge of both languages is important for students who will be working in clinical affiliations throughout the province of Qu茅bec.
The required minimum level of French language competency is NCLC 6 for all domains (compr茅hension de l'oral; expression orale; compr茅hension de l'茅crit; expression 茅crite). This level is based on the clinical communication competencies that you will exercise during your four clinical courses, which include: listening to a client, patient or their family describe the reason for consulting and asking questions to learn more; explaining a condition in formal and informal terms so a client can understand; speaking with other healthcare professionals (such as doctors, nurses) about cases, often in a fast-paced or high-stakes environment in-person or on the phone, and writing notes in a file that are clear to other professionals.
