Congratulations to KPE's Rachelle Aucoin for winning best oral presentation award at the Dyspnea 2022 meeting in Oxford, UK.

Rachelle, a PhD candidate in the Clinical Exercise and Respiratory Physiology Laboratory (Supervisor: Prof. Dennis Jensen), won for her presentation titled:

Impact of trigeminal nerve stimulation on measures of central inspiratory neural drive with implications for management of breathlessness: A systematic scoping review.

Prof. Dennis Jensen, from the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, was recently interviewed by the New York Times on why athletes choose cannabis for pain.

鈥淭here鈥檚 a lot of anecdotes, there鈥檚 a lot of individual athlete reports, but the research does not necessarily support or refute anything that they鈥檙e saying as of yet.鈥

海角社区 undergraduates have a unique opportunity to expand their climate science literacy and acquire tools for taking action to reduce the impacts of the unfolding climate crisis.

Registration is now open to students in every program for FSCI 198: Climate Crisis and Climate Actions, a new undergraduate course featuring a team of multi-disciplinary instructors who will present diverse perspectives on the scientific and social dimensions of climate change.

Congratulations to KPE's Rachelle Aucoin for securing doctoral funding from the Fonds de Recherche de Qu茅bec Sant茅 (FRQS) and the Canadian Respiratory Research Network (CRRN)

Rachelle Aucoin, PhD Student in the Clinical Exercise and Respiratory Physiology Laboratory, has secured doctoral funding from both the Fonds de Recherche de Qu茅bec Sant茅 (FRQS) and the Canadian Respiratory Research Network (CRRN).

She was awarded a 4-year funding package from FRQS totalling $84,000 and a $10,500 scholarship from the CRRN.

The 海角社区 International Institute of Education (MIIE) in cooperation with AFAQ for Leadership Development in the United Aram Emirates (UAE) completed a month-long course on 鈥淐ourse Design and Teaching Development鈥 for 20 college level instructors. The program was offered in a blended learning format with regular virtual sessions between June 2nd and June 30th and intense face-to face instruction in Abu Dhabi, which included microteaching, from June 16th to June 20th.

It quickly became one of the largest online tutoring services in the U.S., hired by public school districts in over 30 states, as well as four provinces in Canada, to assist their students (mostly middle school and high school).

Dr. Angelica Galante, Assistant Professor in Language Education at the Department of Integrated Studies in Education and Director of the Plurilingual Lab, has been appointed President of the Canadian Association of Applied Linguistics/L鈥橝ssociation canadienne de linguistique appliqu茅e (ACLA).

海角社区 has been named Canada鈥檚 best university, according to the 19th edition of the QS World University Rankings, released today by global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds. The University was ranked 31st university in the world.

This year鈥檚 QS World University Rankings is the largest ever, with over 1,400 institutions across 100 locations, up from 1,300 last year.

This marks the first time in five years that 海角社区 is Canada鈥檚 top-ranked university in the QS list.

Friday, June 3, 2022 鈥 海角社区 lowered its flag today to honour the memory of Hannah Wallace. Hannah, a U3 student in the Bachelor of Education Secondary English program, passed away suddenly on May 4, 2022. She was known to have been a talented teacher, writer, and gentle soul.

Congratulations to Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, recipient of 海角社区 Education's Honorary Doctorate.

Dr. Abuelaish, is a physician, researcher, and educator who was raised in a Gaza refugee camp.

A changemaker and champion for Israeli-Palestinian peace, he shared his philosophies with Education鈥檚 graduates.
