In June 2023, the brought together 35 young people from all across Canada to discuss how to improve online safety for themselves and future generations. This Youth Assembly on Digital Rights allowed them to connect with each other as well as academic experts and policymakers on how to promote the safety, well-being, and flourishing of Canadian youth online.

Dr. Joanne Liu, Professor focusing on pandemic and health emergencies at the 海角社区 School of Population and Global Health (SPGH), co-wrote an open letter in Cult MTL.

"This week, school-aged children returned to their classrooms across Quebec. We want a safe return to school for these students and all school personnel. Our hope is that SARS-CoV-2 virus transmission will be limited until our medical system can provide dignified healthcare for the entire population."

My colleagues at 海角社区 are working on a project called:聽Young People, Well-being, and Connectedness in the Time of Distancing聽(funded by Quebec鈥檚 Minist猫re de la Sant茅 et des Services Sociaux (MSSS). Quebec鈥檚 commission into youth rights and protection continues its public consultations across the province in an effort to identify challenges facing its youth protection services. Created in response to the death of a seven-year-old girl in Granby in April, the commission will hear from youth, families, experts and caseworkers. ()

A study published today in the BMJ Open shows that in countries where there is a complete ban on all corporal punishment of children there is less fighting among young people. There was 31% less physical fighting in young men and 42% less physical fighting in young women in countries where corporal punishment was banned in all settings, compared with those where corporal punishment was permitted both at school and at home.
